A video on Youtube on how I make my animations where I make this lil guy here in full! Total time was around 1 hour (Including me fumbling with Hypercam and exporting the gif.) but thats only because its the very rough, first sketch and i only spent a short while correcting the tail. This is more showing how I do things than creating a good animation, (By comparison, editing the video took over 3 hours because I Hypercammed wrong >< Not including rendering) though given time, I might clean this up, add some more weight to the front and add the wings in too =p

I am using the most basic (And old) version of GIMP 2.6.10 with no additional plugins, brushes or anything. The Laptop I use is a Lenovo Thinkpad x200 and this is why the screen is sideways: sta.sh/053d1kv810l I lay the screen flat on the right side so I can draw with my right hand and my left can ctrl+z/c/x/v/s or shift or whatever.

A lot of people ask me what programs I use and I really hate answering this not because its being asked millions of times, that i don't mind so much and I will always try to answer when I can. When I do, this is the answer I will almost always give. I don't want you to think that you must have exactly the setup that I do to animate, this is why I hate answering this question. Animation is all about your drawing ability, fancier software isn't the magic animation-o-matic, you are the one who still has to draw each and every frame whether you use Photoshop, Flash or just pencil and paper. If you want to try animation or get better at it, just do it! Don't put it off until you "Obtain better software", just go ahead with what you have or can easily get.

That said, I do understand that a lot of young animators will not even know where they should even start, some knowledge of the process and certain software is required which is where I decided to demonstrate my own methods. But as always, my methods shown here arn't absolute and its not the only way I do things either =p  The best thing for people learning is to just play around and find what works, look up shortcuts or plugins for your choice of software that might help you do things faster etc. I started out with just pencil and paper, then moved onto a USB graphics tablet and a few years later, got my beautiful Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet PC, and I love it XD.

13 frames, done in GIMP, recorded with Hypercam.

Phantom was glued to your YouTube video on this animation!🙀😻💖 Tairlanga move like lanky cats, but we fly too! And we often mix up flying, gliding, and Galloping in a way Phantom's creator has trouble depicting in words! Kinda like Sisudatu, but smoother, more fluid-like Feline graceful.
