Description
This goes great with my mouth tutorial too
A (Very generic) guide to showing emotions through eyes and face. I've included a few small notes on key features that emphasize the emotion too. Again, this is very basic, there are a lot of small details that can be done to get different effects (e.g ears back when angry mostly denotes a more defensive stance while ears forward while angry denotes an offensive stance). There are also a lot more types of faces too.
Top section is the eye only, the bottom section is an example generic dragon-like character with ears.
I've had a few people ask me for advice on portraying some emotions through animation so I thought i'd make a basic look at what can be done to push a character towards looking more this or that for comic artists, animation or just drawing characters in general.
Unfortunately, it is slightly rushed since I need to prepare for a 12 hour flight back home so apologies if my messy handwriting is illegible, I will have to fix it when I arrive home. but in the meantime, please do tell me of any typos or unreadable parts, or even suggest something i can add to this so that I can do a big do-over when I can.

One last thing - a very common misconception I've noticed is with characters that are shocked/scared, they are portrayed as having small pupils instead of dilated pupils which what would happen in such a situation where a character's fight or flight reaction kicks in. Cartoons do it very often that when characters are shocked, their eyes are reduced to lots of white with a small spec of an iris, but what they're actually emphasizing is how wide the character's eyes become when they get scared - hence lots and lots of white and a smaller iris. It is the whole Iris that shrinks, not just the pupil exclusively.
Also, if you're an artist or animator yourself, consider joining the Channel Frederator Network, a massive community of friendly and helpful people in the field who have helped me to grow my Youtube Channel and helped me get to where I am today!
